A. Berezin (1931-1980). Before his untimely death, Berezin had an important influence on physics and mathematics, discovering new ideas in mathematical physics, representation theory, analysis, geometry, and other areas of mathematics. His crowning achievements were the introduction of a new notion of deformation quantization, and Grassmannian analysis (''supermathematics''). Collected here are papers by his many of his colleagues and others who worked in related areas, representing a wide spectrum of topics in mathematical physics and allied areas of mathematics. In particular, the papers discuss quantization, invariant integration, spectral theory, and representation theory Note de contenu : références Contemporary mathematical physics : F.A. 57GxxMots-clés : topologie différentielle topologie symplectique noeud Résumé : This book presents a collection of papers on two related topics: topology of knots and knot-like objects (such as curves on surfaces) and topology of Legendrian knots and links in 3-dimensional contact manifolds. Featured is the work of international experts in knot theory (quantum" knot invariants knot invariants of finite type) in symplectic and contact topology and in singularity theory. The interplay of diverse methods from these fields makes this volume unique in the study of Legendrian knots and knot-like objects such as wave fronts. 35QxxMots-clés : opérateur différentiel théorie spectrale Résumé : This volume contains a collection of original papers in mathematical physics, spectral theory, and differential equations. The papers are dedicated to the outstanding mathematician, Professor M. Sh. Birman, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Contributing authors are leading specialists and close professional colleagues of Birman.
The main topics discussed are spectral and scattering theory of differential operators, trace formulas, and boundary value problems for PDEs. Several papers are devoted to the magnetic Schrödinger operator, which is within Birman's current scope of interests and recently has been studied extensively. Included is a detailed survey of his mathematical work and an updated list of his publications.Note de contenu : références Differential operators and spectral theory : M. Sh. 58CxxMots-clés : topologie différentielle algèbre de Lie espace de dimension infinie Résumé : Compiles 14 papers written by mathematicians who were all directly influenced by Dmitry Fuchs to celebrate his 60th birthday. The papers focus on infinite dimensional Lie algebra and their applications, and topology. Some of the topics of discussion include: singularities of smooth curves in symplectic manifolds; the application of representation theory to integrals of motion and their deformation; and the resonance behavior of the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations. An appendix includes six personal anecdotes by Fuchs' students and friends. Note de contenu : références Differential topology, infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, and applications : D. B.
